What a ceiling mounted curtain track is
A ceiling mounted curtain track is fixed directly to the ceiling rather than to the wall above the window. That matters in two situations. The first is when there is no usable wall: a window that runs close to the ceiling, a sloped or awkward reveal, or a room where the curtain is not covering a window at all. The second is when the run is not straight, which is where a rigid pole gives up.
Why ours is flexible PVC
Most ceiling track is aluminium or steel. Metal is strong, and for very heavy blackout drapes it is the right answer. It has one drawback: it does not bend. To get a curve you have to send your measurements away and have the track formed at a factory, which costs more, takes time, and only fits if your measurements were right.
Our track is flexible PVC instead. You bend it against your own ceiling, with your hands, and screw it up. There is no lead time and no measuring service, and it fits by definition because you shaped it against the actual room. Getting the length right
Measure the path the curtain will actually travel, following every bend, rather than the straight-line distance across the opening. Those two numbers are different and the straight one is always short. A length of string laid along the intended route and then measured flat is the easiest way to do it. Add a little at each end if you want the curtain to stack back clear of the glass when it is open.
Then order that many metres. We cut to your length, there is no minimum, and nothing is wasted on an offcut.
Fitting it
This is a DIY job with ordinary tools. Mark your line on the ceiling, drill, screw the track up at even spacings, and thread the runners on. Keep the fixings closer together through any bend, because that is where the track wants to spring back and the fixings are what hold the shape. On a plasterboard ceiling, use fixings rated for the weight you are hanging.
The tiring part is driving screws above your head, which is why we also sell a cordless screwdriver with a two-position handle and a work light.
